Paul Drury has worked hard to earn a solid reputation for himself in the two decades he has spent in Scottish Journalism.

This was recognised in his final year in newspapers, when he was named in the “Journalist Team of the Year” category in the 1998 Bank of Scotland Press Awards. For three years, he worked solely in Glasgow’s City Chambers for the Evening Times, reporting the workings of Glasgow City Council and forging lifelong relationships with councillors and officials.

From 1986 until 1994, Paul worked first as a news reporter then a feature writer for the Daily Record, Scotland’s biggest-selling daily newspaper. Among the stories he covered was the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie. He left to become a reporter with the Sunday Mail, the newspaper with the highest circulation in the country. He has travelled the world in pursuit of a story….Italy, Germany, France, Finland, Bosnia, Croatia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Romania and an incredible journey to the United States via Iceland, Greenland and Canada.

In 1995, his first book was published, “Kissed by an Angel.” It recounted the amazing love story of Celtic Football Club defender Tony Mowbray and his wife, Bernadette, who was dying of cancer. “Kissed by an Angel” became a number one seller in Scotland.

On August 30 1997, Paul had gone to bed after a normal Saturday shift when the phone rang in the early hours of the morning. Around 4.30am, just as the sun was coming up, he was in the office to write the intro to one of the 20th Century’s most astonishing stories…..”Princess Diana is Dead.”

He lives in Glasgow with his wife and two young children.
